Ancient Puppy Mills?

Ancient Puppy Mills?
March 30, 2011

It is easy to believe that puppy mills are a recent phenomena. However this story make me think that the ancient Egyptians were involved in a form of running puppy mills. Just goes to show there really is nothing new under the sun. Millions of Mummy Puppies Revealed at Egyptian Catacombs Published March 30, 2011 The excavation of a labyrinth of tunnels beneath the Egyptian desert has revealed the remains of millions of animals, mostly dogs and jackals. Many appear to have been only hours or days old when they were killed and mummified. The Dog Catacombs, as they are known, … this spot continues

How do you discover that your dog enjoys riding on the swing? I think this would be a fun trick to teach your dog (if he or she were amenable)

Having a Sick Puppy

March 22, 2011

Last Saturday we notices that Marshall, the new guy (7 month old Dalmatian puppy) was not feeling well. He had a runny nose (think snotty nose to be more exact) and a nasty cough. Because Marshall is new to our family, we assumed these symptoms were due to the vaccine he had received a week earlier for ‘Kennel Cough’ and expected that by Sunday morning we’d again have a happy and playful puppy. Unfortunately, on Sunday he seemed worse and we added lethargy as a symptom. On Monday morning he was no better, and we could add fever to the … this spot continues

Yesterday we drove to Virginia to meet my new brother Marshall.  He was found running free in Marshall, Kentucky and his original owners didn’t want him back so he was rescued by Dalmatian Rescue of Southwest Virginia.  We adopted him and picked him up yesterday.  After a few minutes of getting to know each other we become friends and this morning, we’ve been wrestling for hours.  I even taught him how to play tug with a rope.  He’s a quick learner! While we were talking with Debi from Dalmatian Rescue we learned that they we able to save … this spot continues

I am getting a new brother! He’s 7 months old and coming to us from Marshall Kentucky. He was found running as a stray and the good folks at Dalmatian Rescue of Southwest Virginia are taking him in! No doubt you’ll be reading more about Marshall in the days and weeks ahead (he hopefully arrives this weekend). However, I want to talk with you about spaying and neutering your pets. According to the ASPCA’s website:  Approximately 5 million to 7 million companion animals enter animal shelters nationwide every year, and approximately 3 million to 4 million are euthanized (60 percent … this spot continues

Why is it that a breed of dog gets blamed for poor ownership? Why are people unwilling to accepted responsibility for their own action? Bad dogs are created by bad people…the end!

Christmas this year was snowy where I was (at Grandma’s). It snow almost all day on Christmas Day and I quickly discovered that I did NOT like the falling snow.  However, on the day after Christmas and there was 6.5 inches of snow on the ground…that I LOVED! Thought I would post up some pictures of my snow day That’s a photo of me running for my favorite toy (a squeaky bowling pin). Successfully retrieved the bowling pin (even though I am not a retriever - hence the spots) One of my favorite games is to bury the Bowling Pin in the snow…. and then try to find it again! … this spot continues

I am a little embarrassed that ‘The Turtle” is better at agility than I am. Guess I need to work harder! and remember, there is no obstacle you can’t get around if you’re willing to run, jump, tunnel or weave! Wrigley Enjoy my blog?
